How to Burn Your Candle Properly

How to Burn Your Candle Properly Maison Blanche candles are designed with precision. From the wax formulation to the fragrance load and vessel, every detail is considered. To ensure your candle performs as intended, proper care is essential. Follow these guidelines to extend its life, maximise scent throw, and ensure safe use. 1. Let the Wax Pool Fully On the first burn, allow the wax to melt all the way to the edges of the glass. This sets the candle's memory and helps prevent tunnelling. An even surface will give you a cleaner, longer-lasting burn. Already have a tunnel forming? Here’s how to fix it. 2. Trim the Wick Before Each Use Always trim the wick to around 5mm before lighting. This keeps the flame controlled and prevents black smoke, flickering or mushrooming. A trimmed wick also helps extend the life of your candle. 3. Keep the Vessel Clean If you notice soot on the glass, wait until the candle is cool and gently wipe it with a paper towel. Keeping the vessel clean ensures a clear flame and better appearance. 4. Burn for No More Than 3 Hours We recommend burning your candle for no longer than 3 hours at a time. Extended burn times can cause the vessel to overheat and lead to a flickering or unstable flame. 5. Discontinue Use When 1cm of Wax Remains Stop burning your candle when there is about 1cm of wax left. Continuing beyond this point can cause the vessel to get too hot, which may lead to cracking or heat damage. 6. Burn Safely Always place your candle on a heat-resistant surface. Keep away from windows, fans, air vents and anything flammable. Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Looking After Your Candle Matters Taking care of your candle ensures the best fragrance experience, a cleaner burn and a longer product life. Maison Blanche products are built to perform. With the right care, they’ll do exactly that. For more advice on how to care for your candle, head over to Product Tips .

How to Clean and Reuse Your Candle Jar

How to Clean and Reuse Your Candle Jar Give your Maison Blanche vessel a second life. Maison Blanche candles are poured into durable glass jars designed to be repurposed once your candle has finished. Whether you choose to reuse them or recycle them, cleaning out remaining wax is the first step. Here’s how to do it safely, without damaging the glass, along with a few simple ways to reuse them around your home. If There’s Just a Little Wax Left Soy wax softens easily in warm water. Fill your sink or a bowl with warm, soapy water and soak the jar for a few minutes. Once the wax has softened, wipe it out gently with a paper towel or soft cloth. Do not use scourers or abrasive cloths. These can scratch or cloud the glass. The wick sticker will loosen and can be peeled off during cleaning. Dry the jar with a soft towel. Avoid scraping the inside with rings or fingernails. If There’s Still a Lot of Wax Left You can use one of two methods, depending on your preference. Microwave method Microwave the candle for 20 seconds at a time until the wax softens. Use oven mitts to remove the jar carefully, as it will be hot. Pour the wax into a disposable container like an old takeaway box. Never pour wax down the sink. Let it harden and discard it in the bin. Freezer method Place the candle in the freezer for 12 to 24 hours. The wax will contract and should pop out easily with a gentle tap at the base. Once the wax is removed, clean the jar using the method above. Ideas for Reuse Tea light holder - soft, ambient light Bathroom storage - cotton pads, ear buds Desk organiser - pens, clips, pins Mini plant pot - succulents or herbs Makeup brush holder - clean and minimal Good to Know If you don’t plan to reuse the jar, you can recycle it. All Maison Blanche glass vessels are fully recyclable through standard household systems.

Candle Troubleshooting Guide

Candle Troubleshooting Guide What to do when your candle isn’t burning quite right. Maison Blanche candles are designed to burn cleanly, evenly and safely when used correctly. But if something has gone wrong, such as tunnelling, a sunken wick or uneven wax, this guide will help you fix it and get the best performance from your candle. 1. Did You Burn It Correctly? (Quick Recap) Before jumping into fixes, check if your candle was burned correctly from the beginning. Small mistakes early on can lead to bigger issues later. Let the wax reach the edge of the glass on the first burn Trim the wick to 5mm before each use Do not burn for more than 3 hours at a time Stop using your candle when there is 1cm of wax left You can read the full guide here: How to Burn Your Candle Properly 2. How to Fix a Tunnelled Candle If your candle has a ring of wax around the edge and only burns in the centre, this is called tunnelling. It usually happens when the first burn was too short. To fix it: Light your candle Wrap the top of the glass in foil, leaving an opening in the centre Let it burn for 1 to 2 hours The foil traps heat and helps melt the built-up wax around the edges Important: Never leave the candle unattended during this process. The glass will become hot. Remove the foil with care and allow the wax to cool before handling. 3. How to Fix a Fallen or Off-Centre Wick A wick that has moved, fallen or become buried in wax can affect the flame or stop it from lighting. If the wick has shifted: Burn the candle long enough to fully melt the top layer Use tweezers or a skewer to gently reposition the wick to the centre Let the wax cool and reset before relighting If the wick is buried or curled over: While the wax is warm, pour a small amount out to expose the wick Allow it to cool slightly, then trim the wick to 5mm Relight with care If the wick is completely buried or has snapped, the candle may not be repairable.
