Meet Flowers Across Sydney
What do you love about being a florist?
I love that I get to do what I love every single day! My favourite thing in the world is creating beautiful flower arrangements, so I consider myself very lucky. It’s also great to be in a job that is about bringing joy and thoughtfulness to people’s lives.
What are your favourite flowers for the upcoming season?
I have so many favourites! It’s like asking me to pick a favourite cat. I can’t go past our new autumn range though, I love how roses, ivy berries and natives all look when they’re in orange, golden and red tones.
What is the first thing you should do when your flowers arrive?
Use the little flower food sachet that they came with and add this to your vase water. Then trim the ends of your flowers on a slightly diagonal angle, this helps them absorb the water and stay fresh.
Are there any tricks for making them last longer?
Make sure you remove any leaves and foliage that sits below the water level of a vase, to prevent the water going stale and muddy looking. Clean your vases properly too; this helps prolong the life of your flowers.
Which is your favourite Maison Blanche fragrance?
I truly love them all, but we’re all big fans of the Lemon, Lavender and Eucalyptus one here in our workshop. We also love that it’s extra special thanks to the Australian Koala Foundation. I am also partial to the Coconut and Lime!
